Biography

Laura Cereta was one of the great women humanist writers of fifteenth-century Italy and is know for making women’s issues and friendships central to her work. Cereta is primarily known for her letters to other intellectuals, which contained her personal thoughts, childhood memories, and themes such as women’s education, war, and marriage.
