Biography

Fujiwara Nagako, daughter of Fujiwara Akitsuna, was born into a politically well-connected and well-accomplished literary family. She served Emperor Horikawa as a handmaid until his death and is best known for her memoir of this time, the Sanuki no Suke Nikki, rather than her poetry.
