Biography

The daughter of Takashina no Naritada, Takashina no Takako was the mother of Sadako, the first empress of Emperor Ichijo and a patron of Sei Shonagon. Five of her poems are included in imperial anthologies as well as the Hyakunin Isshu (One hundred poems by one hundred poets.)[Source: Mostow, Joshua S.
