Biography

Ashshilbiyya used her poetic prowess for political activism as was as personal acclaim in the Andalus Period. She was a determined woman who championed the causes of her abused people. Through her poetry she plead Almohaf Sultan Ya'qub al-Mansur, who repossessed Silves (Shilb) from the Portuguese, to save Shilb from the excesses of the governor and the tax collectors.
